Jay & Jeff

The AutoTrain was delayed a bit, as the torrential rains continued to plague the East Coast with Flash Flood Warnings frequently pinging my cell phone. Glad I wasn’t in the Roadster, with no side windows…

George’s Great-Great Grand-Daughter Pam and Neal were waiting as we unloaded Tommy in Lorton, VA just south of Washington DC Saturday morning about 10:30. The schedule was tight, as Bernie a mutual friend of Jay Leno had arranged for us to meet with Jay in Philadelphia Saturday evening.  He was in town to do a show at the Arts Center, and as you may know is an avid car collector.  Jay also is very familiar with the 1908 NY to Paris Race, and told me just two weeks ago he saw the “I’ve Got A Secret” TV show hosted by Gary Moore which featured Great Gramp in on the 50th Anniversary in 1958. Jay’s wonderful sense of humor both on and off stage certainly made the trip to Philly one to remember!

Sunday morning it was back on the road headed for Hyde Park, NY home of Franklin D. Roosevelt (where we will be starting for San Francisco on June 20). I’ll be leaving the Roadster with Erika, John, and their young son Jack (George’s Great-Great-Great Grand-Son).  Now even at 2 ½, Jack thought the “ahooga” horn of the Model A was so cool.

Monday morning with my sister Jenny and Bruce we’re headed for Buffalo, NY to scope out what the first leg of our journey on June 19 will look like….
