After passing Stewart Air Force Base we came to the town of Newburg, NY and a place called Orange County Choppers. Of Discovery TV fame, this is far from your average bike shop. It’s an “If you can imagine it, they can build it” sort of place. Some of the bikes are truly works of art, but as for ergonomic rider comfort not so sure?
One great example of their work is the 911 Memorial Chopper, exhibited with the arm patches of hundreds of first responder organizations. It is a truly impressive tribute to the men and women who are first on the scene every day, protecting us.
I’m told these custom creations often sell for more than $100,000. After looking at some of the bikes, I would think riding 3,700 miles across the US on one would likely require a side car, with an attending Chiropractor.
